Grief and Loss Support Group

Every Thursday until April 30, 2015

7:00pm – 8:15pm

Category: Local Mission

While grieving the loss of a loved one, it is perfectly normal to cycle through many different emotions. Feelings of sadness, frustration, anger, denial, guilt and even relief can all be typical of those grieving. One of the most difficult aspects of the process of grieving is there is no rational or logical timeframe for the bereaved to feel 'the same as they once did'. Even though one may intellectually comprehened and accept the reality of a loss, they may not recognize when their emotions are making a major impact on their lives. Bereavement counseling can help people work through their grief, resolve lingering conflicts and come to terms with their new lives and selves.

Living fully means feeling fully; it means being completely one with what one is experiencing and not holding it at arm's length. To reach a place of wholeness through the transformative experience of loss, more support may be needed than an individual's family and friends can provide. Embracing the uniqueness of one's grief can be a daunting experience and bereavement counseling can be an opportunity for the bereaved to fully explore thoughts and feelings. Bereavement counseling is a place to become an active participant in grief. To heal, one must be willing to learn about the mystery of the grief journey.
